From the Beginning
From an early age I gravitated towards learning and arts and crafts. I first went to school when I was 2-years-old because I wanted to go like my older brother. I would badger my mom every day until she enrolled in an early education program back in Thailand. I was very good at putting things together, understanding instructions on the first try, and learning new things. During the summers at Thai school, I would live for the arts and crafts time the teachers put together for us. Making flapping crane, paper stars, or wax flowers, I took in all the crafts.Between the ages of 7 and 18 I was always performing on stage. My ability to quickly learn new music allowed me to be the youngest khim (Thai dulcimer) player (at the time) on stage at the annual Thai Music & Dance performance at the age of 7. My teachers' confidence in me allowed me to show everyone that younger children can perform on stage without incident. That opened up more doors for those who followed me onto the stage at my temple. Before that we were only allowed to showcase our cute Thai dances.
